Cities can be lonely places. In the midst of crowds, the absence of connection and proximity can make cities and being in them lonely. Virginia Woolf related loneliness to the universal human experience that can make time endless or flood the noisiest places with unbearable silence.
Combining contemporary dance, hip-hop, performance, theatre and media art, the project development “The Loneliness of the City in Me” explores the question of how a life led partly in solitude can affect an individual and society.

Städte können einsame Orte sein. Inmitten von vielen Menschen können die Abwesenheit von Verbindung und Nähe Städte und das Dasein darin einsam machen. Virginia Woolf brachte die Einsamkeit in Verbindung mit der universellen menschlichen Erfahrung, die Zeit endlos werden lässt oder die lautesten Orte mit einer unerträglichen Stille fluten kann.
In Verbindung von zeitgenössischem Tanz, Hip-Hop, Performance, Theater und Medienkunst geht die Projektentwicklung »Die Einsamkeit der Stadt in mir« der Fragestellung nach, wie ein zum Teil in Einsamkeit geführtes Leben sich auf ein Individuum und auf eine Gesellschaft auswirken kann.
